Get ready to dust off those Country girl boots with Blond Bombshell ambition  looks as we roll in the hay and heat up the barnyard today as our CEO Arne Schreuder interviews MOLL MAG South Africa  international #MOLLBABE of the Day model , actress and songwriter musician Monique Johnston , and Anthony Randall Photography .

Welcome Monique,

Tell us a bit more about yourself who you are and where you reside from ?
I was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. I currently live in the nation’s beautiful capital Ottawa. I am a 6 time award winning singer-songwriter/ rapper, actress and model. I am currently studying for my degree in Neuroscience and mental health, and my greatest aspiration is to help people.

How did your modeling career all start ?
My modeling career started WAY BACK when I was 7 months old and still in baby bottoms. I competed in a national beauty pageant against girls from the ages of 7 months to 10 years. I was the youngest contestant and I took home the crown. The grand prize was a modeling contract with Manhattan modeling agency; I spent the next four years with that agency before transferring to Caroline’s, shortly after that my career took off and I have been modeling ever since.

Give us your modeling achievements and accolades in recent international Publications as a model that goes together with this international MOLLBABE MOLLMAG SOUTH AFRICA September 2017 Babe of the Day feature?
I have been published internationally multiple times in magazines like that of RHK, Celeb Riche, Vizual, Hunnie Magazine, Dream Vixens, ModelMania, etc. I have also done print campaigns with Sears, Club Med, and many more when I was younger.

What is it about our magazine that grabbed your attention right off the bat so to speak ?
I really love the way you showcase models and their work; you also take the time to showcase the model’s personality through their interviews. By doing this you are adding substance to your magazine and it is interesting to read about what the model’s have experienced, etc.

Describe your style to us as a model and which genres do you favor the most to do photo shoots in and why?
I definitely favor glamour shoots, I have a pin-up look and most people compare my looks to that of Marilyn Monroe; anything that has to do with old Hollywood GLAM or pin up inspired is definitely my go to!

As you are another BLOND BOMBSHELL from Canada , tell us in your own words , does blonds have more fun than brunettes overall ….. plus what would be your BLOND Ambition in life as a person and model ?
I would say that blondes do have more fun; my reason for this is that blonde women have a tendency to attract more attention than brunettes. For example, when you walk into a bar your eyes naturally go to the lightest/ brightest object in the room; if there are a bunch of brunettes and a single blonde; chances are you will be drawn to her and notice the brunettes after.

My blonde ambition would be to go against all stereotypes attached to being blonde. To explain further, when I was growing up most people assumed that because I was born blonde I was automatically inclined to not be as intelligent as those individuals who were not. I most certainly have proved the stigma wrong over the years. I was the only student at my private school to skip a grade; I started university at the age of 17 and I study one of the hardest majors out there. I also just want to point of to models that you are beautiful, but you are also intelligent, and don’t let people try to put you down and tell you that you can’t be both.

Monique we also heard along the grapevine you are not just a talented model but also a very talented Music artist / Actress /  Rapper and Song writer , tell us a little more about that ?

I started singing professionally at the age of 8; shortly after that I started writing my own songs, and at the age of 9 I was signed to a major record label… Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to finish my first album as the record label went bankrupt. I never stopped believing in myself and I started to work harder, if I wasn’t singing, I was acting, and if I wasn’t acting, I was modeling.

I was constantly pursuing my goals, eventually I put together a band and the label only wanted to sign me… I talked the label into signing the band, but they weren’t ready for the dream to become a reality. We parted ways, and I signed on with the label. Since then I have been experimenting with my sound, I have recorded and released several singles, and I have won several awards for my music. I am currently working on my EP and I can’t wait for you all to hear what I’ve been working on for the past 3 years.

Getting on the music note of things which of your international music videos you’ve done so far in your music career is your most favorite and memorable one you did , and why do you say so ?
I would have to say my latest single, “Don’t Play.” I love that music video the most because for the first time ever my fans get to see a different side of me, the bars are straight fire! And I could not be happier with how it turned out <3.

How do you handle the mix between celebrity life and personal life how do you keep level headed and your feet on the ground , please explain?
My friends and family are very supportive of what I do in terms of my modeling and music career; however, I try not to tell them everything because I don’t like jinxing myself. I prefer to work on things behind the scenes and show them the final product when it is finished. I did have a crazy moment not to long ago where I had to move out of my apartment complex and move into a different area.

A few of the tenants found out what I do, and started stalking me… It got to the point where I was studying in my apartment and they would come banging on my door to get me to sign something they had of me. For reasons like that I prefer to keep my life private between my family and close friends, and I try not to advertise what I do.

A typical relaxing day and session for you consist of ?
A relaxing day for me consists of turning on NETFLIX , ordering in take out food, and enjoying a nice glass of Merlot.

Your Favorite TV SERIES / MOVIE and music you listen to and watch ?
My favorite tv series would have to be “Suits” and my favorite movie of all time is “The Blue Lagoon.” In terms of music, I am not picky I literally listen to anything and everything, but my favorite genre is 80’s rock music.

Ever tempted to do a crossover music mix of your Rap Music videos and collaborate with other music artists from other genres , if so which music artist would you colab with and why and what would be the Music video and track’s name ?
I am always open to working with artists, I have done so in the past several times. I would love to have the opportunity to work with Cardi B; her latest track, “Bodak Yellow” is absolutely on point! She writes all of her own music and for that reason I think we would blend fairly well together. I normally don’t come up with a title for a track or music video until I’m done with the song.

Coming back to modeling in this photo shoot you did for this feature for us today , what is the one moment on set that you LAUGHED OUT LOUD along with the photographer , as we all know there would be sometimes a joke or funny moment on set that happened to break the ice a bit , what was your moment so to speak ?
A funny moment from our shoot was when I was laying down on the hay and my mother yelled, “Yeah, work your assets!” This was clearly in reference to my bum; both myself and Anthony Randall Photography could not stop laughing… One thing is for sure, you can’t say my mom isn’t supportive! ( wink wink )

What gets you in the perfect mood on set to get that ultimate MONEY SHOT modeling picture / photo that you absolutely love in the end ?
I need to be really comfortable with who I shooting with; the more I am enjoying myself, the better the photo comes out! 🙂 – wink wink

Are you a sporty girl , Tell us which sport did you play back in your University and school days?
I am anything but sporty lol, the only sport I excel at is tennis.

Finally what inspires you to be whom you are and what would you say to other upcoming models and music artists whom look up to you and want to follow in your footsteps ?
I would say I inspire to be myself; and I would tell future models/artists that same thing… Don’t ever allow people to change you, stay true to your vision and always do what makes you happy. You should never aspire to make other people happy, that is an unrealistic goal, but you can aspire to make yourself happy. 🙂
